چکیده

Model complexities of shallow (i.e., one-hidden-layer) networks representing highly varying multivariable f 1;1g-valued functions are studied in terms of variational norms tailored to dictionaries of network units. It is shown that bounds on these norms define classes of functions computable by networks with constrained numbers of hidden units and sizes of output weights. Estimates of probabilistic distributions of values of variational norms with respect to typical computational units, such as perceptrons and Gaussian kernel units, are derived via geometric characterization of variational norms combined with the probabilistic Chernoff Bound. It is shown that almost any randomly chosen f 1;1g-valued function on a sufficiently large d-dimensional domain has variation with respect to perceptrons depending on d exponentially. & 2015 Elsevier B.V. Deep Learning the Ising Model Near Criticality

It is well established that neural networks with deep architectures perform better than shallow networks for many tasks in machine learning. In statistical physics, while there has been recent interest in representing physical data with generative modelling, the focus has been on shallow neural networks. A natural question to ask is whether deep neural networks hold any advantage over shallow n...

ESTIMATION OF INVERSE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF MR DAMPERS USING ARTIFICIAL AND FUZZY-BASED NEURAL NETWORKS

In this paper the performance of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Adaptive Neuro- Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) in simulating the inverse dynamic behavior of Magneto- Rheological (MR) dampers is investigated. MR dampers are one of the most applicable methods in semi active control of seismic response of structures. Various mathematical models are introduced to simulate the dynamic behavi...

On the challenge of learning complex functions.

A common goal of computational neuroscience and of artificial intelligence research based on statistical learning algorithms is the discovery and understanding of computational principles that could explain what we consider adaptive intelligence, in animals as well as in machines. This chapter focuses on what is required for the learning of complex behaviors. We believe it involves the learning...

Bearing Capacity of Shallow Foundations on Cohesionless Soils: A Random Forest Based Approach

Determining the ultimate bearing capacity (UBC) is vital for design of shallow foundations. Recently, soft computing methods (i.e. artificial neural networks and support vector machines) have been used for this purpose. In this paper, Random Forest (RF) is utilized as a tree-based ensemble classifier for predicting the UBC of shallow foundations on cohesionless soils. The inputs of model are wi...

Representing a Model for Improving Connectivity and Power Dissipation in Wireless Networks Using Mobile Sensors

Wireless sensor networks are often located in areas where access to them is difficult or dangerous. Today, in wireless sensor networks, cluster-based routing protocols by dividing sensor nodes into distinct clusters and selecting local head-clusters to combine and send information of each cluster to the base station and balanced energy consumption by network nodes, get the best performance ...
